New York Cycle Club has identified two community organizations to support and partner with. The partnership includes providing volunteer support, promotion of their missions through our annual Escape New York ride as well as being the charity recipients of the proceeds of Escape New York.

Kids Ride Club

  • The Kids Ride Club is the result of a wonderful partnership between Woodhull Medical and Mental Health Center, The New York Cycle Club, I.S. 318, P.S. 257, P.S. 18X, MetroPlus Health Plan, and since 2017, Lincoln Medical and Mental Health Center in the Bronx.
  • It consists of a series of 14-18 structured and supervised bike rides for youngsters aged between 9 and 18 years.
  • The program will run between June and October.
  • In our LI City warehouse we maintain a fleet of more than 60 quality bicycles and supplies for our youth riders. Woodhull Hospital, in addition to the bikes, provide helmets, support vehicles and supplies to maintain the fleet.
  • MetroPlus Health Plan and other sponsors provide incentives consisting of professional grade cycling jerseys, shorts, socks, gloves and caps for the participants and leaders and the NY Cycle Club and Major Taylor Iron Rider members will serve as seasoned volunteer ride leaders.
  • Most of the youth riders will come from Bushwick, Williamsburg, Bedford Stuyvesant, Fort Greene, Greenpoint and Long Island City and a few live in other parts of Brooklyn, Manhattan, Long Island and even the Bronx (our four year old partnership with Lincoln Hospital and P.S. 18X).

I Challenge Myself

I Challenge Myself provides opportunities for public school students to strengthen their bodies, minds and spirits through our school-based fitness programs. We partner with New York City public schools to offer programs that introduce youth to non-competitive endurance sports, currently cycling and cross fitness, that help students develop, socially, academically and physically. Since our launch in February 2005, we have directly served over 2,500 public middle school and high school students ages 11–19 in the Bronx and Manhattan. I Challenge Myself is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization.
